Topaz (Gigapixel AI / Video AI)
AI-powered image and video enhancement software suite from Topaz Labs (Dallas, Texas). In the One Small Crawl production it is used to upscale and enhance AI-generated and archive frames before they enter the Resolve/composite pipeline.
Topaz Labs develops deep-learning tools for photo and video enhancement: denoising, super-resolution, sharpening, and video upscaling. The company won a Technology & Engineering Emmy Award in 2025 (“AI Image/Video Enhancement for High Quality TV Catalog Restoration”). In June 2026 Adobe announced a definitive agreement to acquire Topaz Labs, expected to close in the second half of 2026. By 2025 Topaz reported ~1.5 million customers and adoption by 20 of the world’s 50 largest companies.

In the FRAMES calls
- 2026-06-08-frames-call – Topaz surfaced alongside the Gemini shot list (gemini) and the ADI/Eddie AI editor: the shot-blueprint discussion referenced Topaz as the enhancement path for generated frames. Frame upscaling and enhancement evidence lives on ai-assisted-post (Topaz/prob4_hyp1 + AGT-019) and in the raw AI-generated frames note (ai-generated-frames: Topaz TIFFs + prob4_hyp1 clips).
- Upscaling/enhancement is referenced across several calls (2026-06-01-frames-call, 2026-06-08-frames-call, 2026-07-13-frames-call) as part of the AI-assisted post workflow for cleaning up generated or archival material before compositing in Resolve.
